Safeguarding Children who may have been Trafficked

Pauline Newman, who leads on issues associated with Trafficking for ADCS and co-chairs the ADCS/ADASS Asylum Taskforce, welcomes the publication of this practice guidance from the Department for Children, Schools and Families and has asked that it is circulated to all DCSs.

This document will be useful to LSCB's who are dealing with, 'Children who are Trafficked from abroad' and those who we suspect of being 'Trafficked internally within the UK'

In view of the recent publicity alleging that indigenous girls are being targeted and groomed for prostitution, there is a reference to 'Internal Trafficking'.

The ADCS is represented on the UKHTC Multi-agency Oversight and Advisory Group, and we will ask how we can help 'to develop a better understanding of the nature and spread of internal trafficking across the UK'. (3.24 -Safeguarding children who may have been trafficked - Dec 07)
