School nursing equipped to improve the health outcomes for children and young people

The objectives of this exciting conference are:
• To provide an update of current developments relating to school
and public health nursing
• To provide an opportunity to hear directly from the Department of
Health on the value they place on the profession, the recently
launched School Nursing Strategy and the ongoing programme and
implementation
• To understand what children, young people and families say they
need and want from the service
• To recognise the essential role of school nurses and know how to
influence the commissioning of services for school-aged children
• To raise awareness of the role of school nurses in health protection;
the newly proposed adolescent schedule and the change of HPV
vaccine to Gardasil
• To consider current policy, research and guidance and how to utilise it within everyday practice
