New fund launched to support nurse led community health projects
The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI), today announced the launch of the QNI Fund for Innovation offering over £70,000 in grants to community nurse-led projects in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Institute is seeking to award between £2,500 and £7,500 per nurse-led project in addition to offering a year long programme of professional development and support for each project.
The fund will seek to support projects that will inspire others and improve community nursing practice, giving excellence the recognition it deserves.
Over the past two decades the Queen’s Nursing Institute has supported hundreds of projects under its Innovative and Creative Practice and Developing Practice Award Schemes.
Nurses involved in projects supported by the QNI Fund for Innovation will be eligible for the QNI’s year-long professional development programme, whereas previously only half of the projects funded by the Institute were eligible.
“Because of the results we were seeing from nurses who took part in our professional development programme, both in terms of career development for the nurses and better outcomes for patients we decided to throw the gates open to all our funded projects - there will no longer be a two-tier structure to QNI project funding and support,” said QNI Practice Development Manager Anne Pearson.
Applications for support from the Fund for Innovation are open to all community nurses and midwives in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we are delighted to be able to offer additional funding for the following area-specific awards in conjunction with our funding partners:
- The Alzheimer’s Society
- The Association of British Paediatric Nurses
- The Community and District Nurses Association
- The MS Society
