School Nurses Developing Excellent Sexual Health Provision - Essential knowledge and skills for Independent School Nurses:

HALF DAY COURSE 10.00AM – 12.30PM

This course offers delegates the opportunity to rapidly update their skills to enable them to offer effective, accessible and up-to-date sexual health provision in their school. The course is led by Viv Crouch MBE, an award-winning school nurse, who is nationally recognised for her innovative work relating to young people’s sexual health.

In particular, the course will focus on:

* The latest trends, campaigns and current thinking relating to pupils’ sexual health
* Your role in promoting the sexual health of your pupils
* How to deal effectively with the issues of confidentiality and safeguarding
* Practical ways to encourage pupils to make responsible choices
* How to run successful sexual health clinics in school
* Delivering an excellent SRE programme

Course Presenter – Viv Crouch MBE

Viv is a school nurse, a young people’s sexual health worker and the lead nurse for the Bath and North East Somerset Teenage Pregnancy Partnership Board.

For five years she sat on the Independent Advisory Group to the Cabinet office on Teenage Pregnancy and last year Viv was awarded the MBE for her work with young people. Viv has developed new and innovative ways to help young
people make responsible choices about their sexual health.

She is involved in delivering Sex and Relationships Education to independent school pupils and won an innovation award from the Queen’s Nursing Institute for her Sex and Relationships Education game.

Viv travels widely, training independent school nurses, teachers and other professionals working with young people about sexual health issues. She is also a trainer and mentor for the PSHE certification programme.
