Everyone working with looked after children has a role to play in promoting their health and well-being. In November 2009 the Department for Children, Schools and Family (DCSF) and the Department of Health (DH) published Statutory guidance on promoting the health and well-being of Looked after Children to guide local authorities, PCTs and SHAs in meeting their duties.

NCB is organising a series of free regional conferences on behalf of DCSF and DH to support the implementation of the guidance. These events are essential for those with strategic, commissioning and operational responsibility for looked after children's health and well-being, and will help delegates to understand the guidance and how they can implement it. Delegates will hear an overview of the guidance, learn about its implications for their work and think through their practical next steps for implementation.

Delegates will also learn from local and regional examples of good practice, hear the views of children and young people on how make their health assessments meaningful, hear about drivers to implement the guidance - including National Indicator 58 and regulatory activity - and find out more about the forthcoming NICE/SCIE guidance.
