The Type 1 DVD starter pack scheme was launched earlier this year. This is an exciting project designed for children aged between 10-14 years old who are newly diagnosed with diabetes, and their families.

The starter pack, which includes a DVD and booklet, has enabled us to support healthcare professionals to answer the many questions that families will have when a child is newly diagnosed. The material contains valuable healthcare information and the stories of other children with Type 1 diabetes. We now need your help to deliver the starter packs to the families who need them.

If healthcare professionals want to be involved with the project, we send them their own copy of the starter pack, along with vouchers for further packs. They can hand the vouchers out to their patients when they diagnose a child with Type 1 diabetes. The parent and child's details need to be filled in and the voucher posted back to us at the freepost address provided. Once we receive this voucher we will send them their own copy of the DVD starter pack. This is all free and there is no cost to the HCP or the patient.

Get Involved

We wondered if the members (or rather associated professionals) of the
School and Public Health Nursing Association, might be interested in
signing up to this scheme? If they wanted to do this they would simply
have to go to: www.diabetes.org.uk/dvdstarterpack and fill in the online
form.

Alternatively they can email dvdstarterpack@diabetes.org.uk and we
will send them a sign up form, which they can return in the post.
