Aim

To enable participants to improve their skills and knowledge in working more effectively with children and young people who are at risk of running away.

Objectives

By the end of the training participants will have:

- Gained a better understanding of the complex issues and experiences of young people who run away or are at risk of running away.
- Gained additional knowledge, skills and confidence in identifying those complex situations.
- Identified early intervention and prevention strategies and the value of these interventions.

Outcome

Staff will therefore feel more confident in implementing the key principles of good practice in working with young people who have or are at risk of running away which in turn may lead to a reduction in the incidences of running away.

We provide a practical explanation & overview of the latest guidance from the DCSF, and cover the requirements of NI 71 from a multi-agency perspective.
