Listen Up! Asthma UK Competition
This autumn, Asthma UK will host the Listen Up! final in the Houses of Parliament, London. As a School Nurse we would like you to encourage your secondary schools to enter the competition and make a difference for young people with asthma. Posters and flyers have already been sent to all head teachers of secondary schools in England and Wales a couple of weeks ago.
In the United Kingdom, 1.1 million children have asthma, the equivalent of two children in every classroom. Listen Up! is a competition sponsored by Kodak aimed at secondary schools in England and Wales to raise asthma awareness. We are looking for innovative student-led campaigns which can educate others about asthma.
This could be an activity led by the school council, an end-of-year project for students or an assignment that meets the PSHE curriculum. Creative ideas which have engaged the whole school will be judged most favourably.
The deadline for Listen Up! entries is Friday 24 July 2009. Finalists will be chosen by Asthma UK’s Youth Forum and contacted in early September with details of the event in Westminster. At this event, students will showcase their campaign and have the opportunity to meet their local MP.
The winners will receive fantastic prizes for them and their school.
