SPMSD has supported The Royal Society of Health, a major public health charity, to bring together education and health professionals and young people with an aim to help raise awareness of the link between the HPV related diseases, introduce the HPV immunisation programme amongst pupils and provide opportunities to promote better understanding of more general issues of health and sexual health – which accounts as one of the key priorities for the Department of Health.
The materials will provide teachers and school nurses with specific support for the delivery of personal, social & health and sex & relationship education (PSHE) and science sessions for pupils aged 12 – 14 years.
This activity is an industry first and represents an opportunity for SPMSD to reinforce its position as leaders in public health.
Success to date:
- HPV and cervical cancer – the basics leaflet – over 40,000 leaflets ordered for use in primary care
- PSHE Schools pack - over 11,000 hard copies ordered for schools throughout the UK
RSH are delighted with the overwhelming number of requests for materials and the support they have received from many key stakeholders for this initiative.
