The Universality of School Nursing:
The Privilege of Caring for the World’s Children

Co-chaired by School Nurses from New Jersey and Delaware, with the assistance of the National Association of School Nurses (www.NASN.org).
The Organizing Committee cordially invites all school nurses and other health professionals interested in the health of children in the school setting to submit abstracts to be considered for oral presentation.
Proposals for presentations should relate to the conference theme. You are encouraged to share the creative and effective innovations you have initiated in your schools.
The following topics are encouraged:
- Evidence-based school nursing practice; research by school nurses; demonstrating outcomes of our practice
- Mental health/ emotional health in children
- Issues in school nursing; the challenges of being a school nurse and how to overcome obstacles; certification issues; issues in private and parochial schools
- Children at risk (obesity, teen pregnancy)
- Collaboration among healthcare professionals
- Children with special needs: programs and issues (including children who are refugees and don’t speak the language and inclusion legislation)
- Infection control/ disease prevention (Flu pandemic and disaster planning)
Information for submission:
- All abstracts should be typed in English on the form provided and submitted as a Word document either in hard copy or online
- Typing should be single spaced
- Abstracts should not exceed 250 words. Please ensure that the content and particularly the title accurately reflect what you will present.
- Indicate whether your session is for a 25 minute session, a 50 minute session or a poster presentation
- Deadline for submission is October 15, 2008
- Please send your curriculum vitae or resume with your submission
- Please note that accepted abstracts will not entitle presenters to any discount for the conference.
